Co-Curricular Programs
Elementary School Program:
LEARNING ABOUT THE ECOSYSTEMS
Welcome New Partners: Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine & Monterey Bay Aquarium!
Programs Completed: 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 (in-progress)
Our annual education program has introduced over 150+ students in predominantly Hispanic and undeserved California public schools to the importance of healthy wildlife and ecosystems. Our program complements the environmental education at schools through "distance learning" Skype and Zoom calls with wildlife experts. Students learn about endangered species and efforts to protect them all over the world.
We've taken youth on virtual tours to meet rescued manatees, sea turtles, sloths, seals and bees at the Miami Seaquarium, the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, Costa Rica’s Kids Saving the Rainforest Rescue Center, the National University of Costa Rica's Bee Research Center and Zeehondencentrum Pieterburen, a seal rescue center in Holland.
We are grateful for the incredible enthusiasm of Principal Bill Abraham and Teachers, Rachel Furtado and Lupita Gallardo and all the wonderful families and caregivers who enthusiastically support this very interactive and furry educational program. Thanks to Petroglyph Ceramic Lounge, who donated to each student, ceramic rain forest pieces for painting and firing!
