In 2020, Nature Now International launched our Virtual Program for Young Leaders in Environmental Sciences with co-organizers Guido Saborio and Erik Olson. Due to COVID-19, we were unable to hold our regular fieldwork programs, so we created an interactive online educational experience for students in Costa Rica and California.

A cohort of 9 students joined us in interactive webinars and lessons with wildlife experts on Biological Monitoring. Students also got to contribute to ecology research by classifying camera trap images of terrestrial mammals of Costa Rica. Citizen scientists are a powerful tool in Biological Monitoring. We have continued to offer this program to students in Costa Rica and all over the world!
